Alumni Reflects on the Importance of Keeping Catholic Schools in Our Community

When Kevin Nigon, recalls his memories of Rochester Catholic Schools and his experience at Lourdes High School, he remembers the foundational influence the experience provided to him and his wife Ann (Macken) Nigon. "We received an excellent education with foundational grounding that applied to the larger context of life that has influenced who we are today," Nigon said.

Nigon FamilyThe experience Kevin and Ann had with Rochester Catholic Schools became an important commitment to keep as they raised their own family of five. "We never questioned what we were doing or whether we should send our children outside of Catholic schools," said Nigon. "We were grateful to have the choice in our community to send our children to Catholic schools and they received outstanding educations."

Seeing the results of how RCS has impacted his children's lives has prompted Kevin and Ann to commit to the Lourdes Building Our Future campaign. "We have a strong feeling it is our turn to step up and give back. We live in a competitive market and it's important that we build the new high school," Nigon said.

Nigon reflects that the Lourdes experience is a compelling story for alumni to remember and for those that haven¹t experienced it to get a glimpse and understanding what it can mean to their children and future generations. The "Lourdes Building Our Future campaign has to succeed. The future is bright as is the energy and excitement for Catholic schools in Rochester," said Nigon.
